UN UOMO DEVE ESSERE FORTE (A MAN MUST BE STRONG) is a documentary film that was presented at the 60th Festival Dei Popoli in Florence, which tells the story of Jack and his transition from female to male.
Against the backdrop of a chronic province in northern Italy, featuring weapons factories, sport hunting and small lakes for easy fishing, Jack embarks on his transition journey to transform his body into what he has always felt he was: a man.
Stuck in a rut of doing odd jobs, seeing friends from the bar and with few opportunities for entertainment, Jack begins to question what it means, beyond his physical body, to be a man and what kind of man he should be – he starts questioning the models of masculinity offered by the valley he lives in.
