DRAG ME UP

Queer Art Festival

DRAG ME UP – Queer Art Festival is a festival supported by ROMA CAPITALE under the CONTEMPORANEAMENTE ROMA 2020 – 2022 support scheme, with the artistic collaboration of drag queen HoliDolores and the drag-queen duo Karma B.

Between November and December of 2020, a sneak peek of what the festival would involve took place, featuring a series of live-streamed performances, which sparked significant interest in the project.

DRAG ME UP – Queer Art Festival is a festival and platform for the arts that addresses gender issues through the language of the drag “subculture”. It is an international network for the contemporary arts and LGBTIQ+ activism, as well as a stage for all gender expressions, celebrating their unique characteristics through costumes, make-up and wigs, with a mixture of irony and socio-cultural activism.

DRAG ME UP is a space to reflect on social issues related to inclusion and an International Multidisciplinary Queer Art Festival.

The first edition of this festival, which is already set to become a multi-annual event, will take place in 2021, from 31 March to 30 April.

The theme of the first edition of Drag Me Up is #lovespeech: words against the discrimination of the LGBTIQ+ community.
Stay tuned! The festival programme will be available soon.
